About
Ashley Tacheny, MA, LPC

Ashley Tacheny is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 15 years of experience working with adolescents, adults, and couples. She owns a private practice in Denver, Colorado, where she provides thoughtful, trauma-informed care rooted in compassion, collaboration, and respect for each client’s lived experience.

Ashley is a Colorado native and earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Colorado State University, followed by a Master of Arts in Community Counseling from the University of Denver. Her clinical background is diverse and grounded in real-world experience across multiple levels of care.
Ashley began her career in residential treatment working with at-risk youth, then moved into an inpatient psychiatric setting where she supported adults in crisis and provided both individual and group therapy, with a strong foundation in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). She later worked in community mental health, serving adults with severe and persistent mental illness, providing community-based case management, and ultimately transitioning into in-home family therapy with high-risk youth and families. These experiences shaped her ability to meet clients where they are and tailor treatment to each individual’s needs.

Ashley specializes in trauma and is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She also integrates Internal Family Systems (IFS), Brainspotting, and other evidence-based approaches to help clients process trauma, heal from painful life experiences, and build a stronger sense of self. Her areas of focus include anxiety, depression, mood disorders, PTSD, relationship concerns, codependency, self-esteem, and family-of-origin issues. She has extensive experience supporting individuals in recovery and those impacted by addiction and family dysfunction.

In addition, Ashley is a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor and enjoys working with clients around food and body concerns. This includes body image struggles, chronic dieting, food and body trauma, and the impact of diet culture and family messages around food. Her approach emphasizes healing the relationship with food and the body while fostering self-trust and compassion.

Ashley strives to create a therapeutic space that feels safe, authentic, and empowering—where clients can explore their experiences, challenge old patterns, and move toward meaningful, lasting change.
My Approach
Embrace Your Journey
Trauma Informed
My approach to therapy is trauma-informed, relational, and collaborative. I believe meaningful change happens when people feel safe, understood, and respected—not judged or “fixed.” I work to create a space where clients can slow down, get curious about their inner world, and begin to understand how past experiences continue to shape present patterns.
Evidence Based
I integrate evidence-based modalities including EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Brainspotting, and elements of DBT, tailoring treatment to each individual rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. Together, we focus on building insight, increasing emotional regulation, and gently processing unresolved trauma at a pace that feels manageable and empowering.
Mindful
I am especially mindful of how family dynamics, attachment wounds, addiction, and cultural messages around food, bodies, and worth can impact mental health. I approach these topics with compassion and honesty, helping clients identify what no longer serves them while developing healthier boundaries and more authentic ways of relating—to themselves and others.
Therapy with me is active, supportive, and grounded in real life. I value transparency and will offer gentle guidance, reflection, and challenge when helpful, always with the goal of helping clients feel more connected, confident, and aligned with who they truly are.
